FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house fire in Brierfield.
When they arrived the ground floor front room of the property in Carlton Street was well alight.
They then carried out a search of the property using thermal imaging equipment to make sure no-one was still inside.
The fire caused extensive damage to the house, the front room suffered severe fire damage with the remainder of the house suffering both heat and smoke damage.
A 12-year-old child was given treatment by fire fighters and paramedics at the scene and was later taken to Blackburn Royal Hospital for precautionary checks.
The cause of the fire, which started at 4.20pm yesterday, is still unknown but an investigation is underway way by the fire service and police.
