A POPULAR Ribble Valley music festival has announced another act to add to its line-up.

Bosses at Beat-Herder Festival have revealed that Badly Drawn Boy will perform at the annual event in July.

The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Damon Gough, will take the stage on Saturday afternoon.

Festival co-founder Nick Chambers said: “It’s a coup to get Damon on the bill.

“We always thought he’d be perfect for the Saturday day slot - it’s going to be a real treat for all the Herders to kick back and enjoy a Badly Drawn Boy set.”

Bosses have also announced that La Rochelle Band will perform at the festival alongside already announced acts: Happy Mondays, Eats Everything, Jagwar Ma and The Orb.

Other confirmed acts include The Bloody Beetroots, Hot Since 82, The 2 Bears, The Sunshine Underground and Justin Robertson.

They will be joined by Mr. Scruff, Dub Pistols, Klangkarussell, Nucleus Roots and Greg Wilson and others.

The festival, which is being held for the ninth year, will take place from Friday, July 18, to Sunday, July 20.

The final wave of artists at Beat-Herder will be announced by the end of the month.

Over the year’s Beat-Herder has played host to some of the best-loved acts on the planet from global names to emerging talent, from Groove Armada to Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry to Leftfield to Jake Bugg.

The festival includes the Beat Herder Stage, the oriental mystery of The Fortress, the heady atmosphere of The Woods, the Trailer Trash Big Top, the cosy Snug, the incredible, authentic Working Men’s Club.

In all, the festival has 15 different stages featuring live performances throughout the weekend.
