A YOUNG dad spat in his ex-partner’s face after a row while she was holding their baby, a court heard.

Burnley magistrates were told Daniel Baron, 20, marched back to Michaela Marvelly’s front door, and assaulted her. Baron had a caution for assaulting the same victim.

Baron, of Wallbank Drive, Whitworth, admitted assault by beating, at Bacup, on June 1. District Judge James Clarke told the defendant; “It’s a highly unpleasant form of assault.”

Baron was sentenced to a 12- month community order, with 60 hours unpaid work, and must pay a £60 victim surcharge, £100 compensation, and £85 costs.

He was also made subject to a restraining order, banning him from contacting Miss Marvelly and from going onto Anderson Drive, Bacup.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the defendant and victim were in a relationship from 2011 until June 2013.

Miss Marvelly was left disgusted by the assault. She told police Baron didn’t say anything, and just walked off. She was extremely distressed and shaken. Baron was interviewed and owned up, expressing remorse.

Baron, who was not legally represented, said: “I know I shouldn’t have done it, but she just makes my life unbearable. She just loves it, she thrives on all this. This is what she wants. When she says I can’t see my kid, it makes my life unbearable, like it would do any other father.”
