RIBBLE Valley Council has come out on top for address data management at an annual awards ceremony.
It has received the gong for ‘Most Improved Address Data’ at the 2014 Exemplar Awards.
Address data is used in national projects and processes including the emergency services, who rely on it to respond to 999 calls.
The awards celebrate excellence in service delivery enabled by local government address and street information using statistics compiled by GeoPlace, the partnership between the public sector and Ordnance Survey.
Council chief executive Marshal Scott said: “Accurate address information is vital for the delivery of public services, particularly in a large rural area such as Ribble Valley.”
GeoPlace spokesman Neil Silley added: “The quality of data from local authorities such as Ribble Valley is very important, as it informs public services such as flood risk, land registration, school admissions and crucially the emergency services that rely on it to get to people in distress.
“Over the last year, Ribble Valley Council has improved in all performance measures and achieving this level demonstrates excellence and commitment to a process that brings many benefits.”
