A WOMAN has been convicted of causing the death of an East Lancashire motorcyclist after a two-day trial.

Michelle Marshall, 54, was found guilty of causing death by careless driving after pulling out on to the A65 at Skipton in front of biker Dominic Lee.

Dominic, a 49-year-old Blackburn Rovers fan, had been travelling home to Trawden when the crash happened, on May 1 last year.

He was thrown from his Triumph Sprint ST and later died from his injuries.

Marshall, of Springfield Court, Grassington, was accused of not looking properly before she turned right on to the A65, but had maintained she was not at fault for the tragedy.

She will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on July 1 after the case was adjourned for the preparation of a probation service report.

Dominic, originally from Accrington, was a partner in Boulsworth Services, a Warrington-based business training company, and lived with his wife Tracey and three children, Joseph, Robyn and Iggy, in Colne Road, Trawden, for eight years.

After his death Tracey, also a biker, described him as a ‘great man who had time for everybody’, She added: “He was a very competent biker and was determined to do things correctly. He had all the right equipment and did things properly on the road. I think he got me involved so he could buy these nice bikes with my approval. He had this idea that we would ride into middle age together.

“He loved being on his bike, he had always wanted to get a bike but his dad didn't want him to do, so he only got one when his dad passed away.”
