RIBBLE Valley residents interested in accessibility issues have been invited to join a new action group.

The former Ribble Valley Open Doors group has been reformed and is now called Access for All.

The group, comprising representatives of Ribble Valley Borough Council, Help Direct and Shopmobility, aims to meet regularly to discuss a range of accessibility issues.

Ribble Valley councillor Sue Bibby, who is heading the group, said: “We hope to attract local people with an interest in ensuring public places in the borough are fully accessible.

“We will be tackling a range of issues, such as dropped kerbs, ease of mobility in towns and villages for wheelchair users or mums with pushchairs and the availability of disabled public toilets that are accessible via RADAR keys.

“If anyone has an interest in these issues, we want to hear from them.”

The group aims to lobby on access issues around existing buildings, so that modifications can be made, as well as advise on access to new facilities. For more information, call the borough council’s partnership officer, Dilys Day, on 01200 414549.
