STUDENTS from a Stacksteads school impressed employers during work experience stints.

More than 100 year 10 pupils from Fearns Community Sports College spent a fortnight working at a variety of businesses, schools and organisations in the Valley.

Careers co-ordinator Sara Ashworth said: “As a school we are committed to work experience because we see how much value it brings to our pupils.

“It helps them to develop skills that employers value. The pupils learnt new skills and the experience helped them to think about their own career decisions. Quite a few said they wished their work experience had gone on longer.”

Many pupils took up positions in local primary schools and the leisure industry while others went to larger companies like Jacobson Group, Asda and Tesco.
