RESIDENTS in Haslingden will be given the chance to learn more about dementia during a series of workshops.

East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CGG) has been working with the Alzheimer’s Society to host ‘Dementia Friends’ sessions in Bacup in recent weeks, and will bring the programme to the Veterans in Communities office in Bury Road, Haslingden, next month.

Dr Jenny Darlington, a retired Old Age Psychiatrist and now a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “I really would encourage as many people as possible to come along and get involved with the sessions.

“By spreading the message amongst every aspect of the community we can help people to live well with dementia.”

There are further sessions at the Laurels Nursing Home in Bacup today and on June 18, from 10.30am to 11.45am.

And the weekly Haslingden sessions will run from Wednesday, July 9, at 10.30am.

Anybody wishing to attend the sessions is asked to book online at http://www.dementiafriends.org.uk/session.
