A WOMAN who threatened to jump off the top of a multi-storey car park in Accrington today has been detained by police.

The 33-year-old was talked down by police officers after they received a call that someone had climbed onto the ledge at the Arndale Centre shortly after 1.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “We received a call shortly after 1.30pm today of a person threatening to throw themselves off the ledge.

“Security were investigating before we arrived on the scene.

“She has now been detained under the mental health act.”
