TWO people were taken to hospital after a crash on the M65.

The air ambulance was called to the motorway following an incident involving two vehicles at around 6pm yesterday.

It happened between Junction three for Blackburn West and Wheelton, and Junction four for Darwen and Blackburn South.

The eastbound side was closed and the air ambulance landed in an adjacent field. An ambulance spokeswoman described the pair as 'walking wounded' and said the air ambulance was called due to the location.

They were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries.

What was the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance doing in Blackburn. A long way to come when they are only 1 mile from the hospital.

It's just a stock image, designed to cut costs and not pay photographers to be everywhere in Lancashire and get every story as it breaks. With the rising number of people (me included) wanting news fast, free and online it's inevitable that corners will have to be cut somewhere.

You can't just Google an image of our local helicopters because you would then have to ask permission from the photographer before posting it. Certain sites host royalty free images but I guess this is the closest match the writer could find at 7:08pm when he put this story up no doubt after his official working hours so we could all read it quicker.

If it means we get a story quick and free I think I can live with the wrong helicopter being used in an image.

Sympathy should most certainly NOT be extended to the driver who caused this incident so let's see the facts before we exonerate everyone, shall we?

The fact is, this incident took place in the exact place you'd expect it to; the bit where three lanes becomes two lanes so you can make a fairly educated guess based on experience at that point of how the incident occurred.

I came through that section 5 minutes before the crash last night and the incident most certainly occurred because of the idiots that come flying up the outside lane knowing that the lanes go from 3 to 2 at the top of the hill.

There's some real dicks on the motorway at that time of day!!!!

Well you beat me to that one... I was going to say the same thing... The drivers fly up that 3rd lane trying to nip in as close the the end as possible, for what? 20 seconds shaved off your journey, but risking a write off at best, death at worst??

Sympathy? I sort of have some, because it is never nice to have this happen to you, no matter how idiotic a driver you are... Although my sympathy is very limited, driving for over 10 years and never had a crash, I don't drive round at 20 in a 30, 40 in a 50... But then I don't drive round like a bellend either

Interesting statement .

I won't bother criticising your spelling , nor your punctuation .

I certainly don't need to use disguised bad language .

I stand by my original comment .

Oh - one question , if I may be so bold ?

If this is an open forum for people to air their views , why do you complain
when I express mine ?

Have a nice day .

With regard to the Air Ambulance, consider this:

There may have been multiple casualties.
There may have been casualties that needed to be taken to a hospital more appropriate to deal with major trauma
There may not have been a land ambulance available
There may have been a land ambulance available, but it would have been impeded in it's progress to the incident due to the traffic backing up.

Do you still consider it to be a joke?
