A TEENAGER who took his grandad’s keys on the pretext of locking the front door instead used them to drive away in his car.
Blackburn magistrates heard the car was found by police an hour later in Wordsworth Close, Oswaldtwistle, where it had been involved in a crash.
Elliot Boothman was arrested at Ossie Snooker and Pool Club where he had assaulted the manager who told him to leave when he came in dripping blood from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Boothman, 18, of Hornby Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault on Sadat Akram and unauthorised taking of a car.
He was sentenced to 60 days in prison and banned from driving for 18 months.
Dominic Howell, prosecuting, said when Boothman walked into the club he became racially abusive and threatened to burn the place down.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client wanted to be sentenced without a pre-sentence report and understood he was likely to receive a prison sentence .
