JUDGING is under way in East Lancashire’s first education awards.

Schools, teachers, parents and pupils have put forward hundreds of entries for the Lancashire Telegraph Schools Awards.

There are 10 categories, including Inspirational Teacher, Unsung Hero and Lifetime Achievement, and others for best pupils, teachers and schools.

Yesterday, the first judging panel sat and, after more judging today, the winners will be announced in the Lancashire Telegraph on Tuesday, June 24.

Two days later, the awards will be presented at a special ceremony. at Stanley House, in Mellor.

Judge Sir Bill Taylor said: “The volume, and variety, of the entries has made the judging quite difficult.”

Awards sponsors are North Lancs Training Group, BAE Systems, First Class Learning, Blackburn College, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Funda, Nelson and Colne College, School of Sign Language, Key Stage Teacher Supply, and Accrington and Rossendale College.
