STUDENTS battled it out in the kitchen to be named ‘masterchef’.
Pupils from Rhyddings, in Oswaldtwistle, Mount Carmel, in Accrington, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, and Shuttleworth College, in Padiham, prepared their best dishes for the contest, run by the North Lancs Training Group, based in Grange Lane, Accrington.
The top chef was Morgan Herne, a year 8 pupil at Rhyddings. She wowed judges with hors d’oeuvres of sweet fig and peach crostini, bacon cheddar deviled eggs, and devils on horseback. Her main course was Marilyn Monroe steak, and dessert was chocolate painted éclairs, with French vanilla cream.
