A ‘SIGNIFICANT’ number of jobs will be created when a global firm moved into in East Lancashire.

Stolen vehicle tracking firm Cobra UK has announced plans to up sticks from Cheshire and move to Blackburn and Burnley.

Staff will be moved from the company’s head office in Sale to a large unit at Network 65 Business Park in Burnley which it bought in December, and roles will be created at a warehouse and office facility at Shadsworth Business Park in Blackburn.

The sites are 10 miles apart, and are both close to the M65 motorway, which offers access to the M6, M61 and M66.

Sue Packer, finance director at Cobra which currently employs 75 people, said: “Cobra is looking forward to relocating its entire business to the M65 corridor in the near future.”

Both premises were acquired by Cobra by Colliers International in Manchester.

Associate director Andy Backhouse said: “Our ability to acquire the right properties in the right locations for Cobra UK was obviously a key factor in its relocation and expansion, and the subsequent creation of jobs for Lancashire.”

The Blackburn base, on Duttons Way, is a 10,941sq ft warehousing and office facility, and the firm has taken on a five-year lease. Cobra UK is a subsidiary company of Italian firm Cobra Group, which provides security and safety products for the automotive and insurance industries around the world.

It supplies stolen vehicle tracking and recovery services to numerous manufacturers, including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, and Rolls-Royce.
