SCHOOL duo who have dazzled judges with their nifty footwork have ended their professional dancing partnership in style.

Harry Eyre and Amber Brunton, both 15, won the British Junior Championships in both modern and classical sequence at the Blackpool Junior Dance Festival.

The students, who attend Park High School, in Colne, have won every major championship in the country in their final year, including the North of England, Northern Counties, English and United Kingdom Championships.

Harry and Amber have had a fairytale partnership since meeting at Sandersons Dance and Fitness centre in 2007, when they were both nine years old.

Dr Paul Parkin, headteacher at Park High, said: “Both Harry and Amber have excelled in professional dancing, successfully managing to fit practice sessions in with school studies.

“They are great role models to other students, showing that dedication and hard work brings deserved results.

“It is fitting that they retire from professional dancing at the height of their achievements by winning the British Junior Championships.”

Head Boy Harry is in his final year at Park High and now intends to move to college this autumn to undertake A levels.

Amber will also be concentrating on her studies, moving towards her GCSEs next year. Both intend to keep dancing for fun and fitness, with Amber now teaching dance to younger children at Sanderson.

The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running since 1947 with young dancers from all over the world visiting Blackpool to compete.

The Festival, traditionally held in the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom, celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007 and incorporates the British Junior Open Championships.

This year Sandersons took over 40 dancers to the festival to compete at this prestigious event.
