LANCASHIRE County Council has approved a historic new Children and Young People’s Plan.

The document outlines how partners and services will work together to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Lancashire for the next three years.

The previous plan came to an end on March 31 and the approval of a new three-year plan has now been rubber-stamped by the cabinet member for children, young people and schools, County Coun Matthew Tomlinson.

An LCC report said: “The Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP) provides the framework for how partners will work better together.

“Whilst it is no longer a statutory requirement to have a CYPP, all the key partners who deliver services for children and young people have agreed that we need a central plan that details how we will ensure that services work collaboratively.

“This supports the county council to meet its statutory requirements but also ensures it can make the best use of resources by reducing duplication and targeting support more effectively.

“How well the county council is performing as a partnership is gauged through the regular review and scrutiny of the CYPP priorities.”
