A NURSING team which provides support to families in East Lancashire has won national recognition for offering ‘excellent placements for students’.

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust’s children and family team for Pendle North scooped a national Student Nursing Times Award at a glitzy ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel in Mayfair.

The award recognised a placement which provided students with support during their time at the service.

It recognised the service provided a structured environment for learning tailored to the individual student’s needs, and a culture which inspires the students to develop their knowledge and their practical skills.

Lynne Braley, network director for children and families at Lancashire Care, said: “I am extremely proud of the team for winning such a prestigious award.

“The team provides an outstanding learning environment for the students who are involved through placements.

“Having the right environment when learning is crucial to ensure the next generation of nurses, health visitors or any profession, will in turn work to improve the care for patients in the future. The team are great as they are very focused on educating and encouraging students, not only those within the team but also those studying different disciplines such as midwifery and social care, to aid their understanding of the work the team does and encourage the different areas to work together for the benefit of the families they work with.”
