TWO new courses will be on offer to students at Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio School from this September.

Each equivalent to two GCSEs, the BTECs in business and in creative media production are designed around the needs of employers and fit in with the studio school’s ethos of real life learning.

Principal Ruth Bradbury said: “The creative media production course is perfect for students looking for a career in creative media and takes in areas such as gaming and game design, social media and web design.

“Other fields of study include graphic design, coding, animation and digital movie making – it really is a great course for any budding digital guru.

“The business BTEC Level Two qualification allows students to study topics including marketing, business law, consumer rights, finance and much more.

“It will really give them an insight into how businesses are run and help them to gain essential skills for future employment.”

The BTECs are taken in combination with up to seven additional GCSEs, including Maths, English and Science.

And from September, students will be taught at the new Police Street building.

There will be an open evening at Darwen Academy in Sudell Road on Wednesday.
