A BURNLEY church is to open its doors this afternoon to allow people to light a candle in memory of Declan Edwards.

The 16-year-old’s body was found in woodland around Rowley Lake yesterday after he went missing on Sunday afternoon.

St Catherine’s Church, in Todmorden Road, will open from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Father Roger Parker said: “I think a lot of people want somewhere quiet to gather to pray and remember Declan and to light a candle in his memory.

“I spoke to children at the school this morning and he was clearly incredibly popular. The head teacher (Sally Cryer) paid a lovely tribute to Declan.”
