CLITHEROE and District Scouts received a Town Award at Clitheroe Town Council’s mayor making ceremony yesterday.
District commissioner Ian Macdonald received the award on behalf of the Scouts.
The award is for service to youth and community and comes in the centenary year of Scouting in Clitheroe.
Coun Val Cooper was elected town mayor at the ceremony, with Coun Jim Shervey elected as her deputy.
Mr Macdonald said: “I’m very proud of the district and all of the young people involved and of course the leaders. It’s the adults who put in the hard graft week in week out to make a difference for these young people.
“It’s gratifying that the town council has recognised the hard work that everyone does in the district.”
