TWO businesses have pledged their support for Airedale Hospital’s bid to raise £100,000 for resources in its new emergency department.

The hospital, which cares for patients from Pendle and Craven, is aiming to raise enough funds for three distraction walls for the children’s assessment and treatment areas, more resources to help patients with dementia who will use the trust’s Butterfly Room, an interactive light system for the children's waiting area and cardiac monitors for the general assessment areas.

The new department is set to open in October.

Ann Christian, of LCF Firm based in Ilkley, said: “We support a variety of national charities but wanted to become particularly involved in a local charity where we could really make a difference.

“I’ve seen first-hand how good the distraction walls are when I’ve taken my own children into hospital.”

Malcolm Weaving, owner of Rendez Vous Hotel in Skipton, said: “Any initiatives that can ease the stress and strains of unfortunate patients and their worried carers going through the trauma of waiting in A&E have to be applauded.

“We hope to use our experience in supporting numerous charities and the use of our facilities to help raise this money for such a worthy appeal.
