WORK has now begun on a long-awaited scheme to improve road access to some of Burnley’s gateway development sites.
Contractors acting on behalf of Lancashire County Council have moved on to the Barracks roundabout as part of an initative that will see traffic lights introduced.
The first phase of the work has already seen part of the Gannow roundabout filled in and lights controlling traffic coming off and onto the M65.
Later phases of the comprehensive programme will also see the junction of Westway and Trafalgar Street upgraded, to make it easier to reach parts of the Weaver’s Triangle.
