A 33-YEAR-OLD man assaulted his former partner after pulling up next to her in his car.

Blackburn magistrates heard Mohammed Naeem hit the woman on the head, before punching her in the stomach. He then told her: “I’m going to kill you and run off to Pakistan.”

Naeem, of Spring Road, Birmingham, was convicted after a trial of assaulting Shabreen Taj. He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, made subject to community supervision for 12 months, ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work, and pay £100 compensation and £85 costs.

Charlotte Crane, prosecuting, said Miss Taj was going about her business in Blackburn when Naeem pulled up next to her and got out of his car.

“There was an exchange of words between them before he hit her twice on the top of the head,” said Miss Crane. “He continued with his verbal abuse before hitting her in the stomach.”

As a result, Miss Taj had secured a non-molestation order from the County Court against Naeem.
