CARS worth almost £50,000 have been stolen from a driveway of a Ribble Valley home.

A 62-plate black Volkswagen Passat worth £27,000 and a 62-registered black Volkswagen Golf valued at £20,000 was taken from the property in Whalley Road, Barrow, on Saturday.

The burglary took place between 6.45pm and 10.50pm and entry was gained to the property through a conservatory.

The police have said that the cars were driven away by offenders after the keys were taken from inside the house.

Various items of jewellery amounting to £850 including a gold ring, Pandora bracelet and two sets of earrings as well as $170 in cash were also taken.

No arrests have been made and yesterday both cars were still missing.

The police are appealing for witnesses and anybody with information on the crime should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
