HYNDBURN’S oldest community space has been given a £100,000 facelift.
The paths in Milnshaw Park had, over several years, been deteriorating, becoming an issue for Accrington residents.
After they were improved, one local councillor spoke of his pride.
Coun Paul Cox said: “The park is something I’m really proud of and, over the last 10 years, I have seen it slowly become a shadow of its former self.
“Investment was desperately needed to repair the footpaths.”
A new gate was also installed at the entrance to the park. Future projects are also planned, including a multi-use games area which is expected to replace the old tennis courts.
Coun Cox added: “More work needs to be done, but this is an excellent start. Redevelopment of this park is something that has been needed for years, and is something I’m going to carry on working to achieve.”
