RIBBLESDALE High School pupil Adrian Daykin has been selected as the Ribble Valley’s youth MP.
The 16-year-old from Clitheroe was chosen at a recent election event involving young people from local schools and colleges, elected members, parents and friends.
He will represent the borough at the UK Youth Parliament.
Adrian said: “I am delighted to have been elected MYP for the Ribble Valley and the evening was a good experience.
“I am looking forward to representing the young people of the Ribble Valley for the next two years.”
Lancashire County Council young people’s champion Kim Snape, said: “Winning elections is always a great feeling.
“I remember only too well how I felt after winning my first election.
“It was a very important moment in my life and it will be the same for Adrian.
“I would like to congratulate Adrian on being selected.
“I have no doubt he will do his best to represent the borough's young people when he is having discussions with organisations at a local, regional and national level.
“I will do everything I can to offer Adrian and his colleagues my full support.
“Having spoken to them this evening, I have no doubt they will be making their views known and offering constructive proposals on how to develop and improve services.”
