AN Easter fun day organised by Hapton Parish Council takes place this Saturday from noon to 4pm on the recreation ground.

The Mayor of Burnley, Coun Frank Cant, will be opening the event and judging the Easter Bonnet competition.

There will be a funfair, stalls, a tombola and raffle, and parish councillor Tim Birbeck will be running a barbecue to raise funds for the parish council.

The event is to mark the opening of the new play equipment on the recreation ground provided by Hapton Parish Council with a grant from Veolia.

Coun Jean Cunningham said: “It is open to everyone, not just Hapton residents. Come and join us and bring along your Easter Bonnets.”

Coun Joanne Greenwood said: “Securing a grant for the play equipment was quite arduous but when you see the finished result it makes it all worthwhile.”

Parish councillor Tim Birbeck said “Following on from last year’s incredibly successful kite festival, the parish council is now looking to hold more events for the community.”
