EXTRA parking restrictions are set to be employed on a busy Burnley industrial estate in a bid to make access easier for businesses.

Plans had been drawn up by Burnley Council for ‘no waiting’ restrictions at the entrance to Farrington Close, off Farrington Road.

An application was made to Lancashire County Council to make the scheme a reality, and the proposal was then advertised.

One objection claimed that the parking problems being experienced there would only be temporary as one company expanded.

But county council highways officials believe that the restrictions would improve ‘traffic flow’ around the junction, and there should be enough off-street parking locally.

County Coun John Fillis, highways cabinet member, has provisionally approved the move, pending it being ‘called in’ by Lancashire’s scrutiny committee.
