Lancashire Telegraph: Companies backing Darwen MP Jake’s jobs fair Companies backing Darwen MP Jake’s jobs fair

DARWEN MP Jake Berry has announced the first companies to sign up for Darwen Jobs Fair which takes place next month.

The event at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy has been organised by Mr Berry and will be held on Friday, May 30.

Warburtons, Northern Rail, Lancashire Police, Housing 21 and Cavalier Carpets will all be taking stands at the free event, supported by Jobcentre Plus. More of East Lancashire’s biggest employers are expected to sign up and people will have the opportunity to attend free workshops on CV writing, interview tips and setting up your own business.

Mr Berry said: “I am really pleased to announce that five great employers will be at the fair.

“The economy has recently turned a corner, evidence of which we have seen in the huge success of our apprentice campaigns and the 25 per cent drop in unemployment over the past 12 months. We cannot, however, be complacent.

“That is why I am organising the jobs fairs to give local people the best possible chance to find work, change jobs or simply network with employers.”

Employers and jobseekers wishing to attend can register at www.darwenjobsfair.co.uk

No way is that supported by Darwen JobCentre? They are useless and actually try to prevent you from getting a job. All Darwen jobcentre want to do is prevent you from claiming benefit and creating lots of paperwork to keep them and others in a job re tribunals which they lose. Seriously badly managed and bad work ethic there - I know someone who claims no other benefit and wanted to go to college to learn a new career. The course was paid for if on benefits and would lead to a full/part time job of 25 hours but Darwen jobcentre said this was not allowed. They actively stop people going to college and they actively stop people training to be nursery staff, school ta's and many others.

On top of that, they fill in false notes on your account and wrong information. You can request all information and they fail to provide it.

Maybe they have to be quite strict due to the amount of sick, lame and lazy that pass through their doors, it is sad everyone gets tarred with the same brush tho.

Which is why you should insist on seeing everything they type on your file whilst they are doing it, never hand them your password for the universal jobmatch site, do not relinquish your data protection rights and for Pete's sake, DO NOT under any circumstances believe a word they say. Question everything they say you have to do & ask them for written proof to be signed by them before leaving the job centre. It amazes me how many people blindly follow what they are told by the staff.

Does Jake Berry really think our neck of the woods has turned the corner and is seeing an improvement in the economy. I suggest he gets a seeing eye dog, because the majority of jobs are part-time & minimum wage or temporary agency work, which is neither use nor ornament to anyone bar kids living at home with their parents.
