DARWEN MP Jake Berry has announced the first companies to sign up for Darwen Jobs Fair which takes place next month.

The event at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy has been organised by Mr Berry and will be held on Friday, May 30.

Warburtons, Northern Rail, Lancashire Police, Housing 21 and Cavalier Carpets will all be taking stands at the free event, supported by Jobcentre Plus. More of East Lancashire’s biggest employers are expected to sign up and people will have the opportunity to attend free workshops on CV writing, interview tips and setting up your own business.

Mr Berry said: “I am really pleased to announce that five great employers will be at the fair.

“The economy has recently turned a corner, evidence of which we have seen in the huge success of our apprentice campaigns and the 25 per cent drop in unemployment over the past 12 months. We cannot, however, be complacent.

“That is why I am organising the jobs fairs to give local people the best possible chance to find work, change jobs or simply network with employers.”
