MORE than 40 houses in Burnley have been left without electricity since shortly after 8am.

Currently 45 homes in the town are affected including properties in Slaidburn Avenue, Brunshaw Avenue, Stonyhurst Avenue and Belmont grove.

Engineers from Electricity North West after receiving reports of a substation fault shortly after 8.15am.

A spokesman said that they hope that power would be restored as soon as possible and that they are looking at bringing in generators to restore power.
