A BURNLEY man has won a competition to photograph this year’s Grand National.

Dan Heap won after his photo of horses training at the Curragh Training Grounds, Newbury, received overwhelming support on the official sponsor Crabbie’s Facebook page.

He will go to Aintree racecourse next week as a VIP guest throughout the Crabbie’s Grand National weekend.

His prize also includes a digital SLR camera, additional lens, camera case, screen protector and UV filter.

Dan said “I’m thrilled. I was really pleased with my image and I’m delighted that Crabbie’s, The Jockey Club and the Facebook audience felt it captured the spirit of the world’s greatest steeplechase.

“I’m really looking forward to attending this year’s festival and I hope to take some great shots to capture the day.”

Richard Midgley, marketing director at Crabbie’s said “Dan picked up a huge 56 per cent of the votes from a very strong group of amateur photographers and his image was exactly what we were hoping for when we commissioned the competition.

“It’s a beautiful photograph which really captures the spirit of this magnificent event and we’re looking forward to seeing the photos he takes as a VIP guest at this year’s Crabbie’s Grand National.”
