THE Mayor of Clitheroe is calling on the town’s residents to apply for funding that has been raised over the past 12 months.

Coun Kevin Horkin, who will step down in May, has been raising money for the Mayor’s Welfare Fund since becoming mayor last year. Individuals and groups are invited to write to him at the town council for funding for community initiatives and projects that are existing or are going to be set up.

The call comes after around £6,000 was raised for the fund on Friday at a James Bond-themed charity ball at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors.

A charity shop was set up last year by Coun Horkin in the centre of Clitheroe raising money for the Mayoral Fund.

To Apply, write to: Clitheroe Town Council, 9 Church Street, Clitheroe, BB7 2DD.
