AN attacker who slashed a shopkeeper with a knife has been spared a jail term.

Mohammed Zaman was terrified by the violence at the hands of Mohammed Hussain, 28, on a Burnley street and thought he was going to be killed, Burnley Crown Court was told.

Mr Zaman needed three stitches in a leg after Hussain sliced through his clothing with the blade.

Hussain, 28, of Belford Street, Burnley, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm. He was given nine months in jail, suspended for two years, with two years supervision and the Thinking Skills programme.
