THE Woodman Inn, in Todmorden Road, Burnley, is to host a charity fundraiser this Saturday.

The event has been organised by animal charity supporter Audrey Bates, who has raised more than £20,000 in the past decade for 18 different organisations.

Mrs Bates said there would be a wide variety of gifts for sale in the pub that would make excellent Mother’s Day presents.

She said: “There is to be a sale of fancy good and gifts from noon to 3.30pm.

“There will be jewellery, and lots of ideas for presents.

“There will also be a bric-a-brac stall, with like-new items for sale, including some great books.

“All sales will help many animal charities to keep animals safe in sanctuaries at home and abroad.

“Please come along and pick up a bargain. Every penny will help.”

Mrs Bates, who used to work at the Edith Watson Maternity Unit, in Burnley, lives in Clockhouse Court, Lanehead, and has devoted most of her retirement to fundraising.
