MEMBERS of Lower Darwen Memorial Bowling Club want to trace relatives of veterans whose names are etched on the club’s memorial plaque, to notify them of a special memorial service.
The club’s annual service of remembrance will this year mark the anniversary of the start of the First World War.
The plaque is dedicated to the men from the United Methodist Free Church in Lower Darwen and the names are Richard E Duckworth, James H Gardner, Robert W Haworth, William H Livesey, Harry Robinson and Osborne Walmsley.
The church used to stand on land that is now the club’s car park.
Dave Kendall from the club said: “This year we’d like any surviving relatives to attend.”
The memorial service will be held at the War Memorial at Lower Darwen Memorial Bowling Club, Higher Croft Road, Lower Darwen, on Saturday, March 29 at 10am.
