A TEENAGER who ‘went over the top’ and kicked a man on the ground in a fight has walked free from court.
Camillus Walsh, 18, told police he got carried away because he had had so much to drink. He said he should have walked away but was too wound up.
Burnley Crown Court heard how the victim had been trying to cover his face as Walsh kicked him repeatedly in the violence.
The victim, said to have apparently started the trouble, was left bleeding from a cut on the top of his head and his nose and lips were also bleeding.
Walsh, of Sansbury Crescent, Nelson, had admitted assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was given eight months in prison, suspended for two years, with 200 hours unpaid work and a six-month, 9pm to 6am curfew.
Stephen Parker, prosecuting, said the pair had been squaring up to each other, neither took the opportunity to walk away and it carried on for some time. A woman had tried to intervene.
