SIX people are set to appear in court - mostly for public order offences - after the East Lancashire derby on Sunday.

Police have thanked supporters generally for their behaviour before, during and after the clash at Ewood Park, Blackburn.

But a number of arrests were made around the fixture and six men aged from 28 to 51 are set to appear before Blackburn magistrates later this month.

Mark Furness, 51, of Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle, and Michael Slater, 30, of Fowler Height Close, Blackburn, have each been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place and were both bailed to appear before magistrates on Friday, March 28.

Daniel O'Sullivan, 33, of Pickup Street, Mark Haighton, 28, of Victor Street, and Benjamin Hargreaves, 27, also of Pickup Street, all Clayton-le-Moors, were bailed until the same date to answer charges of using threatening behaviour.

Joshua Bramwell, 23, of Pinners Close, Ramsbottom, will face the same charge on Wednesday, March 26. Fayaz Khan, 34, of Godiva Street, Burnley, has been charged with being drunk while trying to enter a sports ground and will also appear before the Blackburn court on March 26.

Lancashire Police have also confirmed that a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy from Burnley, both arrested on suspicion of criminal damage have each been bailed pending further enquiries until May 1 and April 4 respectively.

A 23-year-old Blackburn man detained on suspicion of breaching a football banning order was also bailed until April 3.

A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of stealing a seat has been released and will face no further action.
