Lancashire Telegraph: Airedale dementia ward campaign gathers pace Airedale dementia ward campaign gathers pace

PEOPLE campaigning for a dementia ward to remain at Airedale Hospital have collected 1,200 signatures.

The names were gathered outside the market hall in Keighley by members of Ward 24 Carers Action Group.

The Rev David Griffiths, chairman of the action group, said: “We had a great day in the sunshine collecting 1,200 signatures in three hours.

“People were very willing to sign. They told us stories of their gratitude for their loved ones being well cared for in Ward 24."

Bradford District Care Trust wants to move the ward to Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford.

It argues that the new unit will provide higher quality care.

However, campaigners say the ward serves communities as far away as Ingleton.

Good luck to them but, sadly, petitions have very little effect these days in my opinion. The powers-that-be operate in such a high-handed manner, often going against plain common sense, such as with the closure of Burnley A&E, Colne Recycling Centre, the Nelson centre planning fiasco, even the EU referendum, etc, generally the main LibLabCon 3-in-1 party treats the public with contempt once they get in.
