MOTORISTS faced long delays this morning after several cars collided on the M65.

The crash, which happened between junctions seven and eight on the eastbound carriageway, involved a Ford Fiesta, a black Mercedes, a Vauxhall Astra, and a Nissan Micra.

One of the vehicles had spun around and was facing the wrong way in the central reservation.

Police have said that lanes two and three of the motorway are now running, but a lane one closure is still in place.

A second collision is also thought to have occured close to junction 13.
