RAISED flowerbeds in Milnshaw Park were dismantled and moved to allow a £100,000 project to get underway.

Footpaths will be improved and work will also be carried out on the path around the old paddling pool area.

The beds were installed two years ago as part of a community food-growing project, and were moved to allow construction vehicles access to more of the park.

Working alongside the volunteers from the Hyndburn Prospects foundation was Milnshaw Councillor Paul Cox.

Part of the original group who installed the beds, he said he had mixed feelings.

“I’m disappointed that this community edible garden is being moved, but I’m excited to see the development of the park taking place.”

The dismantled raised beds will be stored at Gatty Park whilst work to Milnshaw Park is carried out.
