HYNDBURN Council’s Dog Warden service is again joining forces with the Dog’s Trust to offer free micro chipping sessions on Thursday, March 20.

The session will be held in the car park of Tesco Extra on Eagle Street, Accrington.

The sessions are open from 11am to 3pm, with no advance booking required.

Micro chipping pets gives them the best chance of being identified and returned to owners if they are lost or stolen.

A tiny microchip is inserted under the animal’s skin, which gives the pet their own unique code that can be matched to the owner’s contact details, which are kept on a database..

Coun Paul Cox said: “The law is changing and from April 6 2016 micro chipping will be compulsory for all dog owners in England, so why not get ahead of the game and bring your dog along to the session.”
