Rossendale Community Boxing Club – fighting home of North West champion Jake Leary – is going from strength-to-strength with three bright young hopefuls looking to follow in his footsteps Tim Murphy and Lewis Farrelly, both aged 11, and 16-year-old Jake Law are showing signs that they are ready to emulate their title-winning stable-mate.

With a couple of recent wins under his belt, Leary, 22, has two more bouts planned and will be boxing regularly in the lead up to the National Open Class Championships in March and April.

In a great start to his competitive boxing career, Jake Law premiered in November last year, winning his bout and taking the decision on points.

He repeated his first success recently at a second outing at Grange Over Sands against R. Garnett from Kendal ABC, showing great dedication and determination.

Tim and Lewis, along with Noah Ellidge, have come through the club ranks together and train hard three times week. All three are promising young prospects with Tim and Lewis diving into the competitive arena over recent months, each winning decisively.

Noah is still awaiting his first competitive bout but is showing excellent promise and plans his first outing soon.

Trainer Dave Usher said: “It’s great to see more young boxers coming through and fighting well competitively now.

“Jake Leary has been a real inspiration to the younger boxers who are keen to emulate his success.

“This commitment and their obvious enjoyment of boxing has shown in their rapid progress to competitive boxing standard and they each have a lot of potential to progress in the sport.”

Leary added: “The club is always busy but it’s been a real hive of activity lately with the younger boxers training for their first fights.

“It’s brilliant to see more successes at competition level from the club and we're all planning to keep up the hard work with more competitive bouts planned in the near future.”

Newly-qualified ABAE coach, Mark Wild has recently joined the clubs ranks and the clubs training facilities have been recently been upgraded with cash raised from last years awards evening.

Rossendale Boxing Club is a friendly, professional community boxing club open five nights each week offering training sessions for everyone aged 9 to 70, ranging from competition boxers, to people who just want improve or maintain fitness.
