REPAIR work on a burst water pipe in Haslingden is set to continue until mid-March.

The pipe burst at the start of February and the road has been partially closed since as engineers carry out the work.

Mark Donaghy, a spokesman for United Utilities, said: “Our specialist team is continuing to work on this really difficult repair.

“The deepest pipe is seven metres underground, which creates a lot of challenges for us. The team is making good progress, but we are still looking at the work taking around six weeks to complete, which would take us to the middle of March.

“We are really sorry for any problems this is causing local people and business owners, but we want to reassure them we are doing all we can to complete this emergency repair as soon as possible.”
