STOP PRESS:

Planning permission to demolish the Edinburgh House YMCA building in Clarence Street will be passed and an Islamic academy at Shear Brow will be built.

It‘s Jack Straw‘s Council therefore no problem!

Award will look good on her CV for the MP selection list. Claire Pritchard will have to run a bit faster to catch up.

Ha ha ha looks like Kate Hollern is manouvering herself to get into top spot for labour party selection...her contribution to blackburn is the regressing the town's public services and financial mismanagement....you wont get my support until she acknowledges some of her failings publicy....and i mean it!

and knowing what i know....kate's selection will be rubber stamped as there are negotiations happening behind the scenes for the other contenders to withdraw from selection with the promise of council leader post....disgusting disgusting what happend to fair selection, i know it needs to be a woman this time round no issues with that but why "fix", and stage manage a candidate that will be selected to the detriment of the open selection!

i dont think she has any voice i know for a fact that the community in question hates her guts...and she is only tolerated by them for the greater good of the blackburn labour party...

And the award for most spot-on comment goes to...

For saying what most of us thought.

Her 'revival' of the 100 voices, a noted talking shop for the disgruntled, to have a bit of a gruntle about things that are being mentioned at many of the community meetings but somehow manage to escape any attention until mentioned in the current 'special interest' group.
Some cynics may be thinking that there is some kind of special election in the air, with all these junkets and back-slapping awards being lashed out.
I would love to see the ballot paper include one line, 'none of the above', just to see what the true feeling was in the party. Failing that, can we have a monkey to vote for, instead?
Incidently, some readers may be wondering where they have heard of the Maida Restaurant before; it's the one that is due to appear before the courts, for hiring illegal workers. Nice to see that the organisers of this event didn't let that fact stop them from holding the event there!

Anyone got her phone number?
Am thinking that, what with the fire brigade having been whittled down the bare bones and all the other services being hard pressed to cope with things, I could give her a call. Perhaps to save puppies drowning in the canal or that occasional kitten, stuck up a tree, kind of thing...
You don't think that she would whip round here, with a bucket and shovel, to clean up after local dogs, do you?
Send me her number, I'll give her a call and find out...

Both Kate Hollern and Jack Straw deserve this award. Both boasting equal success achieving community cohesion but some may say the opposite to be the case due to biased council tendencies to gain votes.
