EAST Lancashire Euro-MP Chris Davies has decided to make today his ‘Super Tuesday’ for meeting Brussels’ bosses.

The Liberal Democrat has arranged a series of meetings with European Commissioners, putting on his running shoes to dash from one office to another.

He will start with discussions with Health Commissioner Tonio Borg, of Sweden, on the new EU law on electronic cigarettes, asking for guidelines to encourage tobacco smokers to switch to e-cigarettes, and protect current users.

Next stop is Lithuanian Tax Commissioner Algirdas Semeta in a bid to end mountain, and lowland, rescue teams having to pay VAT on all their equipment purchases. Then he plans to meet Danish Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard over his proposals for governments to have more flexibility to achieve CO2 reductions at the lowest possible cost.

Then it is Dutch Digital Agenda Commissioner Commissioner Neelie Kroes to discuss capping text and call charges for people working, and holidaying, overseas. Mr Davies will finish his frantic day with a speech in the European Parliament on energy policy.
