PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed news that recorded crime in Lancashire has fallen over the last twelve months.

Latest figures from the independent Office for National Statistics show that since 2010 recorded crime in Lancashire has fallen by 10 per cent.

Mr Stephenson said: “I recently spent an evening shift with local police officers and pay tribute to the fantastic work they do.

“It is great news that crime continues to fall in Lancashire. Hardworking local police officers in Pendle can be rightly proud of their success in cutting crime.

“The Government wants to set the police free to fight crime. That’s why we have cut red tape and given police one simple target: cut crime.

“Crime is falling, according to recorded crime stats and the independent crime survey, and I will continue to do what I can to support the work of our local police.”
