MOTORISTS who park their vehicles on pavements and grass verges on the North Valley estate in Colne, are to be the subject of a police crackdown.

A Colne and West Craven police spokesman said: “We are warning people after a number of grass verges within the estate have been torn up by vehicles.

“The recent wet and prolonged cold weather has not helped matters.

“Initially the Neighbourhood Policing Team will speak with and warn drivers in relation of their activities. “As from the week commencing Monday, February 10, PC Walker will prosecute any offenders in relation to this activity.

“This will be for the offences of criminal damage, or, if found parking on the footpaths, action will be taken in relation to wilful or unnecessary obstruction.

“Residents of the estate must agree that this current activity is making the estate appear really neglected and untidy.”
