THE leader of the Green Party is set to visit to Hyndburn and Accrington today in the run up to May's Euro elections.

Natalie Bennett will visit Whalley Community Hydro at 11am and will be talked through the project by the organisers. Around £750,000 is currently being raised before building work can start which organisers hope will be in April.

The power house, which will generate electricity from the River Calder, will use the movement of the river’s water to create electricity. The power will then be fed into the National Grid and generate money for other local renewable energy projects.

She will then move on the Prospects Environment Centre and One Planet shop in Accrington in the afternoon.
