A MOTORCYCLIST was killed yesterday in Chorley after his bike collided with a car.

Police said the 23-year-old man, died following an accident just after 4pm when two 125cc motorbikes were being ridden along Bolton Road towards Chorley.

The first motorbike overtook two slow moving vehicles near to Albany Academy school.

A second bike is thought to have attempted to make the same manoeuvre but the rider lost control of the bike, colliding with an oncoming Fiat Panda.

The rider was transported to Royal Preston Hospital with multiple injuries but sadly died a short time later.

Sergeant Finn Quainton from the Force Road Policing Unit said: β€œAn investigation is underway into the circumstances of the collision but I would appeal to any witnesses to the collision to contact Lancashire Police on 101.”

Bolton Road was closed for three and a half hours for an investigation to take place.
